Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh has finally announced the release date of his much-awaited Punjabi film Panjab ’95 – also spelled as Punjab ’95. However, the actors fans in India won’t be able to see this film based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. Diljit Dosanjh starrer Punjab ‘95 release date announced

Late Friday (January 17) evening, Diljit Dosanjh took to his Instagram handle and posted the trailer of Punjab ’95 as well as announced the film’s release date. He captioned the post, “ਪੰਜਾਬ ’95 releases in Cinemas Internationally only on 7th February P.S. Full Movie, No Cuts” The actor’s post also included the hashtag “#ChallengetheDarkness” The clip opens with a voiceover of Arjun, as he describes the turmoiled history of Punjab, right from Operation Blue Star, the assassination of Indira Gandhi and the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. He questions, “Why is Punjab suffering?”. Check out the trailer here:

As per this post, Honey Trehan’s Panjab ’95 will not be releasing in India for now. The film’s release was delayed for over two years after running into trouble with the Central Board of Film Certification. As per reports, the CBFC had suggested over 120 cuts in the film owing to its sensitive subject matter.

As seen in the trailer, Diljit essayed the role of activist Jaswant Singh Kalra. The film sheds light on Kalra’s relentless pursuit of justice during Punjab’s tumultuous militancy period and highlights his investigations into human rights violations and the disappearances of Sikhs.

Panjab ’95 is directed by Honey Trehan, shot by cinematographer KU Mohanan and edited by A Sreekar Prasad. Ronnie Screwvala, Honey Trehan and Abhishek Chaubey have jointly produced the film. Aside from Dosanjh, the film also stars Arjun Rampal and Suvinder Vicky.
